Designed to offer guidance, development, and an outlet for promising producers to showcase their music, the series returns this winter with its sophomore release: ‘Reconnection’ by Newcastle’s Lewis Taylor. At just 24 years old, Taylor has quickly become a much-talked-about young talent, with his ‘Party Trax’ series earning praise from established names such as Palms Trax and Job Jobse. His productions, landing on labels including Trick, ec2a, Agrio Tracks, and Riviera Records, reflect an understanding of house music’s history while keeping his sound fresh, energetic, and forward-thinking. ‘Reconnection’ captures the spirit of the Scholarship project: youthful energy shaped through mentorship, Chris’s creative direction, and the Up The Stuss ethos. Across two cuts, Taylor presents his most refined work to date. Title track ‘Reconnection’ pairs warm chords and skippy percussion with fluid basslines, nodding to classic textures while channelling his own edge. Meanwhile, ‘I Wanted You To Know’ explores more introspective ground, with its shimmering pads and emotive melodies revealing a side of Taylor’s sound rooted in sensitivity and late-night atmosphere.
