TL;DR — SoundCloud runs on reposts and first-48h momentum; YouTube runs on search and suggested videos. Combine one curated premiere at release + short verticals during release week + answering your comments. Skip anything "guaranteed".
We run a music media on both platforms. Here's the 2026 reality, without the fluff.
First, the boring 80%
Promotion multiplies — it doesn't create. Before spending a euro: competitive mix, real artwork, complete metadata. A well-promoted mediocre track goes nowhere, expensively.
SoundCloud: win the first 48 hours
- Release Tuesday–Thursday, morning in your audience's timezone — the algorithm judges your first 24-48h
- Fill everything in: genre tag, buy link, credits in the description
- Trade reposts with real peers — 5 artists at your level in your genre beat any mass repost network
- Reply to every comment in week one
- Get premiered on a curated channel: concentrated day-one plays and reposts are exactly the signal the algorithm reads (here's how)
Waste of money: bought reposts, "guaranteed 10k plays", repost chains outside your genre. Visible to everyone who matters.
YouTube: play the search game
- Title = search query:
Artist - Track [Label]— that's what diggers type - Descriptions that work: credits, date, buy links, socials. Indexed by YouTube, used by listeners
- Ride suggested videos: being uploaded on a channel that already ranks in your genre puts you inside the neighborhood; a lone upload on a fresh channel starts in the desert
- Genre playlists on established channels feed the autoplay chain for years
Waste of money: view bots (YouTube purges them), tag stuffing, re-uploading the same track.
The 2026 combo
- Premiere on a curated channel at release — day-one momentum + a permanent editorial reference
- 2-3 short verticals (20-30s of your best moment) as Shorts/Reels/TikTok during release week
- Your own channels for retention — reply, thank reposters, post "out now" once, not fourteen times
Steps 2 and 3 cost consistency. Step 1 costs a good pitch — and it's the one that borrows an audience you don't have yet.
A House Six data point
Our public sitemap listed 3,928 localized premiere-detail URLs on 23 July 2026. The useful part is not the raw number: those pages turn a one-day upload into a network of artist, label and genre archives. Browse the Janeret archive, for example, and each premiere leads to the next instead of ending at an isolated social post.
For new releases, the exact House Six page is included in both platform descriptions and in the artist's publication email. That gives search engines, listeners and the artist one stable URL to reuse in a bio, press kit or release recap.
Where House Six fits
We premiere deep house, deep tech, jazzy, funky and disco for ~115,000 listeners on SoundCloud + YouTube — editorial presentation, full credits, buy links, and vertical cuts for the algorithms. Browse the catalog to judge the fit.
